| Some members are concerned to be told
that the IEU worked with CESA on an agreed proforma for professional review
of staff. It is true that there is an agreed format but it is not a Performance Appraisal - but a Professional Review. We were very careful to not make it a process which had industrial implications or was couched in summative terms. It has come out of an OHSW context. It is meant as a way of indentifying stressors before they become a claim. The danger would be if a school were to add their own content which had more sinister motives. The system should be based on your reflections (which aren't submitted or retained) forming the basis of a discusssion of how you are finding your work & NOT about how well you are performing at your work. It is meant to highlight things which can make your role more effective eg PD, job redesign (more money??). There are other processes to manage poor performance. If this is being used oppressively we need to know. The approved version is linked below. Obviously if the joint statement at the end cannot be agreed then it shouldn't be signed off.
