 LUTHERAN MATTERS

No. 2
23 February 2007

Enterprise Agreement
(Workplace Agreement) 2007

  • The IEU held a meeting of Branch Representatives on 21st February to begin planning for the next Workplace Agreement.

  • The meeting included Reps from Primary and Secondary schools, as well as LSOs. Prior to the meeting the views of members in country schools were sought.

  • IN THESE NEGOTIATIONS THE IEU WILL REPRESENT ITS MEMBERS FROM ALL EMPLOYMENT AREAS IN LUTHERAN SCHOOLS AND KINDERGARTENS

  • Non members will have to find their own way of being represented and will need to consider if other groups have the capacity to do this.

  • In the new industrial environment it is more important than ever to have the technical expertise, research capability, communication networks, facilities, staff experience and negotiating skills of the Union behind you.

  • That capability only comes from members’ fees. Is it just that non-members continue to benefit from the contributions of members?

  • The challenge is to join the IEU(SA) and participate in the process in a way that is independent and supportive of your colleagues.

Membership forms are available from your school's IEU(SA) Rep or www.ieusa.org.au  or phone 8410 0122
