IEU(SA) Executive & Committees

The IEU(SA) Executive consists of twelve members elected by and from the membership of the Union. Executive members are elected for a three year term. Elections are conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission. Current Executive Members are:

Secretary:             Glen Seidel, IEU(SA) Office

President:             Margaret Sansom, Retired Teacher

Vice President:    John Blackwell, Retired Teacher

Vice President:    Jenny Gilchrist, Prince Alfred College (Adelaide)

Treasurer:             Evaldas Reinke, Nazareth College

Members:

• Sheryl Hoffmann, Concordia College (Highgate)
• Ian Jaensch, Faith Lutheran School (Tanunda)
• Bruno Sartoretto, St Margaret Mary's School (Croydon Park)
• Shirley Schubert, Cornerstone College (Mt Barker)
• Noel Karcher, Christian Brothers College

Committee System

IEU(SA)'s constitution establishes a range of committees to assist the Executive in its deliberations. Committees are chaired by Executive members and supported by IEU(SA)staff, but also involve rank and file members with particular expertise or interest. The Secretary is an ex officio member of all committees.

Senior Officers is the committee of management and consists of:

Secretary, President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer.

Finance Committee oversees broad budgeting matters and has as members.

Senior Officers, Finance Officer and Office Manager.

Industrial Committee discusses industrial campaigns and prioritises activities.

This Committee is activated when required and its composition changes depending on the issues being considered.  The Committee is supported by the Industrial Officer.

Membership Committee is concerned with attracting, retaining and servicing members.

Chaired by Margaret Devichand and supported by Organiser Louise Firrell.

Equity Committee considers gender and equity issues.

This Committee is activated when required.  Chaired by Marg Sansom (President), supported by Organiser/Training Officer Louise Firrell.

Education Support Officers (ESOs) Committee considers issues relating to ESOs.

Chaired by Sheryl Hoffmann and supported by Organiser/Workplace Health Officer Wendy Evans.

Publications Committee produces EdU, IEU(SA) Matters & the website.

Chaired by Office Manager Alison Walker and consists of IEU(SA) Officers.

Education Committee provides considered feedback on topical education issues.

Chaired by Marg Sansom (President), supported by Asst. Sec Julie Lundberg.
